Maps
The following maps are available here:- Volunteer Coverage: This map shows what blocks are available to claim and survey. Blocks which have been deemed as completed are closed here. Blocks which have been marked as completed have been reviewed by MCBBA independently of the 'percent complete' metric.
- Volunteer Hours: This is a handy map for visualizing what areas need the most attention.
- Shuford Richness: Richness in the context of this survey is calculated as the species which either have Probable or Confirmed breeding codes associated with them. Please see point #2 below.
- Current Richness: Richness in the context of this survey is calculated as the species which either have Probable or Confirmed breeding codes associated with them. Please see point #2 below.
- Percent Complete: This is a proportion of current species seen divided by Shuford species seen. Please seen 'Percent Completion' below. This metric is meant as a guide. To close out a block the species within it must be officially reviewed. Please see the Volunteer Coverage map to view closed blocks.
- Region Divisions: We have broken up the county into 4 different regions. If you have signed up for a block to survey you will have a region coordinator to help guide you through the process of reporting rare breeders, or other project questions.
- Explore & Export Map: This option allows you to zoom to your block and removed the pop-up from your cursor. This option is ideal for exploring within your block. Right click to drop a pin and get latitude/longitude.
Breeding Codes
The species present in a block are defined following breeding parameters:- Confirmed: This lists all the species that have been recorded with the codes/observations that confirm breeding
- Confirmed, Probable: This lists all the species that have been recorded with the codes/observations that both confirm and indicate probable breeding
- Confirmed, Probable, Possible: This lists all the species that have been recorded with the codes/observations that support possible or probable breeding, or that confirm breeding
Percent Completion
The equation for determining when a block is preliminarily called "complete" is listed below. It does not necessarily indicate that surveys should completely cease, but that it is appropriate for the block leader to reduce effort and target certain species or areas, or to focus on another block for the current season. Note, it is generated predominantly with proofed (clean, not raw) survey data submitted in CADC, as well as data submitted via the incidental form and by other scientific monitoring programs. Note, recent Atlas submissions to CADC and via the incidental webform will not show up automatically as some data processing is required before the data are pushed to the Data Explorer. In the event that more species are seen in the current survey as compared to the historic, the percentage is rounded down to 100%.
Percent Complete =
